Where did your Travelistas spend their time last weekend?
No…We did not spend our weekend with our dates, nor did we spend it bumming at our homes. Care to know where? Well, whether you like it or not, I will share with you our escapade last weekend (Feb. 19-21).
Last Friday was the start of the 17th Annual Travel and Tour Expo organized by the Philippine Travel Agencies Association or PTAA. This expo was conceptualized to promote the products and services of its members. It has been the most awaited travel event of the year. This year’s Travel and Tour Expo was the biggest, and it was the first time that the event was held at the SMX Convention Center.
As a newly registered travel company, we knew that we would be able to get a glimpse of the Philippine Travel Market by joining this event. That is why we really looked forward to joining the event, and we were not disappointed. We did not just get a glimpse but a full view. We met a lot of local and international tour operators, obtained contacts from the different airline companies, learned the status of the travel industry here in the Philippines, and, best of all, got a lot of freebies!
Imagine! We went home with 6 bags-full of travel kits, and to make it worse, we had to ride the MRT going home to avoid being stuck in the heavy EDSA traffic.
These are the things that we realized from attending the Travel and Tour Expo:
1. This is the perfect place to get good deals for your airline tickets and tour packages.
2. As a travel company, we have to focus on a niche market to be able to thrive with the rising competition. This would lead me to create a post in the future about our selected niche market. If you have ideas, suggestions are highly appreciated. Just leave a comment below. =)
3. Even though we are experiencing economic problems, people will always make a way to travel. One tour operator shared to us that they had clients during that event who really brought money and paid their bookings upfront. Take note! I am not talking about thousands but hundreds of thousands CASH!
4. Last, personally, I realized that I made a great choice of working for this business. Being a travelista rocks! =)
Here are some of the photos that we got during the event. Enjoy!
